I've been showing my mother a few crochet stitches while she's been teaching me to knit. Today, with her new understanding of crochet, she said she wished she could show me how to knit continental style because it would probably be so much more natural for me as a crocheter. So I jumped on YouTube and found this demo. I'm definitely going to try this style of knitting on my next project.
I have actually just recently learned this style after being frustrated by the other way....I am also a crocheter, so maybe that is why this seems easier. Another great site for instructions is
I was a crocheter first, was taught knitting (not continental) and discovered it on my own after much frustration and experimenting. Didn't realize I was doing continental. My knitting buddies laughed at my new method but agreed it worked. Later we discovered it actually had a name, lol.
I have to finish what I have on my needles before I try the continental knitting, but I just know it will feel more natural to me. Watching the video, it looks like knitting crochet style.
Like Sonia, I turned to continental because it just seemed natural after years of crocheting! It's so fast. I just couldn't figure out right-handed knitting.

I love continental knitting. I think its so much more efficient. I taught a knitting class recently and taught them all continental.
